From Hatshepsut to Nefertiti to a Coptic Abuna, meet the many forms of the long-lived Egyptian language. Watch as they help us listen back to the original sounds of the hieroglyphs. Then, identify a family full of Egyptian's ancestors and relatives, refine those pronunciations and arrive at an outline of Egyptian pronunciation.

Everything about ancient Egypt is so fascinating, even their language!
I'm Egyptian!
What they sounded like is *"E"* If you get the mummified reference 👀
Skip to the last 30 seconds if you want to hear what it sounded like. There are a few other spots, but why waste your time. There are better videos out there. This video maker somehow forgot what his title says.
Greetings from Egypt ♥️ Loved the video

Ancient Egyptians were African black as a car tire. Modern Egyptians who look more Arab are Arabs.
The troll says his culture is Egypt But his real culture is algone.info/slow/video/konNyplsiaCayKM
No ancient painted themselves red not black and not all people who live in same continent have to be the same race
Ancient people sounds like : MINECRAFT HMMMMMM
I'm so out of my depth I can't even express, but oh boy isn't it interesting.

its similar to hebrew , vowels are indicated by markers called niqqud...... fluent speakers know vowel sounds instinctively
I love your Egyptian accent as you did this. So you didn't sound like an out of touch tourist as you read the egyptian.👌🏾✨
Abuna means father. Like in church
DO SUMERIAN!!!!!
Very soon some AI computer will know exactly how it sounded.

Bull crap
I didn't find out. The film was forcibly dragged on for more than 10 minutes. Thumb down.
Me heading to history class to take a test on ancient egyptian culture after watching this
🇪🇬🏜
🇪🇬
All languages change, thats how they stay alive
No, they stay alive by being used. Old Church Slavonic didn't change for over 1000 years but there are still people speaking it (mostly just priests for religious purposes)
It really sounds like a mixture of African and west Asian languages. Interresting video
This can't be played in the background?
All the Love from Kemet
Excellent video, Thank U ✨
Hieroglyphics wasn't a common language and was used by the rich and prophets for inscribing rituals for the after life. We still don't know the true meaning of the characters let alone how it should sound like. Even during the time of Cleopatra hieroglyphics was a forgotten language
Me thinking about jojo & walking like an egyptian
1.15 Wow, Josephine was a lucky lady!!
Every time something about Egypt comes up and they say they have no clue about it. I always get pissed at the fact they don't even look into the indigenous tribes around Africa. There is never mention of a black Egyptian when if one goes now you find many black human beings in Egypt. So to me it seems like the answer is right in front of them, but their own cultural vanity doesn't allow them to find the answers they seek. So fuck Egyptology.

His american accent is quite disturbing
If a modern linguist travelling back in time to ancient Egypt and tried to talk to the locals. Would the locals be weirded out by *autistic noises* or would it just sound like a weird accent? Would the linguist be able to understand them when they talk back?
No one knows what the Egyptians sounded like and the only way to find out is to explore the African languages like Wolof from Senegal because it was an African civilization, so you can't look at from a Greek or Roman perspective at all. Words like Kufu, Khafre, Senenmut, Henu, Mutmuwa these are African names. Thank it.
I’ve always wanted to know what ancient egyptian sounded like
I'm disappointed. I was expecting a deep-southern drawl with hints of racism... Back to the history books for me I guess.
But... how does it sound?
4:30 is that you're looking for
i understood pretty much nothing but thank you
@ray Mak an important part of history really,..if you believe this you believe anything,..i was first born in Alexandria in the 6th century BC,..this is all BS.........my soul is over 5000 yrs old,..this is my last human life, i was born in a palace,..Who's ray???
thus we still don't know how it sounds like.
An xclnt video. I've often wondered about this, especially when I studied Linguistics in Anthropology years ago. We didn't get much past Indoeuropean in that 101 paper. Keep it up!
Western Bullshit! The arabs deciphered the language during the 9th AD. Champolion just copied/ pasted it The word semite doesn't exist. Sumerians were arabs
My friend Learning German: I'm gonna use this Me learning Middle Egyptian: I'm never gonna use this, but it's a good party trick
me to
How do you know they trilled their Rs?
آه و افسوس که نمیشه برگشت به اون دوران و دید زندگی ها و آدمها واقعا چطور بودند!
I can almost hear Tutmoses III saying to Moses. 'Tell it to the hand'.
For those that want to hear Egyptian spoken, look up Coptic.
This is so cool
The heading of this video, is misleading. I was expecting to hear somebody, speaking as they spoke then.
Nano, Nano, mork calling orson!
This was wonderfully fascinating! I love Egypt and their culture and history. I am so enthralled with learning about them. In this day and age, when everything is about "now now now" it is exotic to slow down and learn something ancient. I had no idea that we pronounce Ankh wrong! Thanks for sharing and i look forward to watching your other videos and learning more.
I appreciate this video so much thank you
i literally thought it was gonna be the funny meme where it shows a female narrator showing a single sound of an Egyptian. You know... Like.. "Ah" sound...?
they sound like Somali and still have many common word.
Not a problem for Modern Chinese to read ancient Chinese.
What in the Duat is the value of this sign?
Finally someone talked about Coptic! Coptic is basically a mixture of Ancient Greek and Ancient Egyptian,it was first used during the Roman empire after Christianity came to Egypt and St.Mark established The theoretic school of Alexandria, which was mainly a Christian school but offered a great variety of sciences taught in it A lot of people from the Eastern parts of the Roman empire (which Greek was the main languge in) came to this school and they weren't familiar with ancient Egyptian,so the Coptic languge was introduced by A Christian scholar to ease studies for foreigners and keep it ok for natives Coptic survived until the 17th century, but now it's only used a languge of prayers in the Coptic Orthodox Church
It's logically impossible for a human to know how egiptian sounded...
When I took Hindi classes, I was surprised why the lack of nouns. They assume that every consonant makes an “uh” sound. I am Going to assume that Egyptian might’ve been like that. It sounds like some “uh” sounds turned into O’s, E’s, and A’s. Interesting video.
Nope we literally have some consonants with e and oo, Ae etc. Sounds but yeah most consonants have assumed to be producing "uh" sound
متخدش في بالك تعليق مصري كمل سكرول لتحت ,btw thanks for the video
Watch the movie "hidden colors" 1-5 its a series
Im egyptian and I’m so glad we don’t speak like that anymore , it sounds so hard 😂😅
AMAZING VIDEO! More of Ancient Egyptian please!
So very interesting. I’m old so I’ve had to replay it over a few times . I used to be able to catch languages much easier than I do now. Still origins fascinate me. Thank you
Someone wants Ihmotep to come back. Put Brendan Fraser on speed dial.
You area Big liar! Shame on you! Egypt IS African, si stop!
They weren't black
