You still running the settings you gave toward the end of the video? I just installed the ST springs on my 2 seat 2018 XPT. I'm at 5.25" and 8" ST recommendations right now and a little lower ride height. I ride near Phoenix like you, so I figured I'd see if you're still happy with where you had it set.
I've sold that RZR, but going a little lower would also be great, as I was running it high the RZR was more "tippy", and after going with an amazing tuner Wayne Isrealson of All Tech, he informed me that going higher isn't always better for overall performance. If I went to Moab I'd keep it high, but for everyday riding I might go back down .5". I hope this helps!
How much better does it handle the whoops any bucking
I have a 2019 rzr xp4 1000 turbo, just put the same springs and the ride is great but for some reason I can not get them to stay straight, my plastic divider rubs on the shock body both front and rear , also on the rear upper springs grinding my cross over rings, tried to turn them on different positions but could not get it to work without rubbing issue, did you have any problem lime that or my springs has so.e kind of bow on them, thanks
You have the best reviews. Thanks I have these springs coming tomorrow. Can’t wait.
Thank you!
The footage at 3:04 is awesome, where is that exactly?
Thanks, that is just south of El Golfo Mexico, about 70 miles north of Rocky Point. Lots of fun trails in that area.
everything shock therapy makes and does is top quality, you cant go wrong with there stuff
So I heard the walker evans on the standard xps were rode better and held up better than the standard fox shocks is that true?
I would have to know which models (and years) specifically you are speaking of, but with my past experience the Fox worked better. You can have a Walker Evans RZR setup to work great as well. No matter what SxS you have I HIGHLY suggest upgrading springs and valving, money well spent.
Love my Shock Therapy Springs.
Where in AZ is that riding?? Sweet video!
This was a great video!
Where’s your favorite place to ride near Phoenix - turbo S 4
I haven't ridden that many spots like Sheeps Bridge or to Wickenburg, I mainly ride to Crown King, which is pretty fun, but there are probably spots I would like more that I haven't seen. I prefer the rougher whoops and bumps, but the Crown King ride is fun to get up into the mountains, it's probably best for a Summer time ride in the valley.
What’s your wheel offset with the 32 inch tires?
Nicholas Olson thank you sir
5/2 on this RZR...
How much better does it ride vs stock? Right now I have the stock mainspring and rzr aid tenders ,it made a difference but not a huge difference
mike Coleman it’s a lot better, and valving with springs is significant. IMO the best money you can spend, for performance gains.
Great video! Been setting up a lot of rigs with Shock Therapy. If you guys ever go riding in Bullhead City, AZ let us know!
Thank you!
Do you have any tire rub on the front when the suspension bottoms out on those 32’s? Specifically on the stock springs? Great video!
Chupacabra Offroad, awesome! Thinking about stepping up to 32’s on our XPT; but don’t want to rub like a 1/2 ton Chevy on 35’s. 😂
No rub with the 32's!
I went and talked with them today. I am going to start with the spring upgrade first and see if that helps out my 18 turbo x4 dynamix. If im still not happy Ill have them do the valves as well but hope the springs make me happy. There is a lot left to be desired in the stock suspension.
@Chupacabra Offroad I hope so i was not happy with the stock suspension. You might remember me from when I was heading out with a friend I stopped to talk to you after seeing your car. Anyways ill let you know how just springs go after install on Jan 12th
Id suggest running the crossover rings high, with the increased spring rate, and Dynamix valving, you might need both to be totally happy, curious to hear how it works out for you...
Wheres the location you ride in AZ?
Many times it's out by Lake Pleasant and up to Crown King.
1 min 49 sec into the video. Where is that place? I want to go there
This is El Golfo, Mexico, it's awesome!
Near Lake Pleasant...
Great video, nice detail on your set up. I just put the Eibach stage 3 set up on my 2017 RZR, similar set up to yours and I agree, best thing I've done to my RZR. Did a ride in the Hualapai Mountains... Awesome!!!
Congrats, and the Hualapai's are awesome!! rode there on the AZ Peace Trail, definitely my favorite part of the Northern part of the trail.
Good vid very insightful. Tires vs springs as the only performance upgrade you have done from your description. Which is better. I'm a 18 xpt dynamix owner. Up in the long lost other west coast Washington lol. I needed bigger tires, skid plate, winch, etc. I have been tossing up Walker sway bar links or springs to handle the extra weight from suspension, cage, spare tire, recovery gear, etc
Id say tires, only because the stock Big Horns can't handle too much real off road and sharp rock abuse, even though the springs are amazing for ride quality and comfort. But budget for both!
Well, after a long weekend of mammoth riding and passing the 500 mile mark, I think it’s time to make the move to the ST springs. Thanks for your vids on mammoth, it was a blast!
Awesome, I love it up there.
And there we go.... another thing I didnt know I needed until now. This buying RZR parts thing just never ends 🙄🙄😂
@James Scherck Well aware of that lol. I spent 220 on fender flares and then $200 on a belt last weekend to go ride. Still haven't done the shocks, but maybe soon.
You have to pay to play.
@Chupacabra Offroad probably so, might be a while before I can afford them. I just spent $600 on accessories and some maintenance items 2 weeks ago and then I just spend another $100 earlier today for a wolfsnout cab cooler kit and a toggle switch for my radio.
Haha true story.., these will be one you probably will not regret
I’ve got a ‘15 RZR 900 S 2 with the Fox bypass and dual rate in the rear. On 30” BFG’s and OMF beadlocks. The rear secondary from new collapsed completely regardless of settings. Race XC and now with the Eibach springs I get about an inch and a half before the secondary kicks in. New collars and no more donkey kicking in the whoops. It was almost ridiculous how soft the stock spring rate is on them new.
Isn't it? ANd amazing how much more performance you get, as the stock springs on most all OEM models are not good!
Where are you taking your crossover ring measurement from, the 5" and 7.25"? The top of black seperator ring to bottom of crossover or from bottom of crossover to bottom of shock bridge. Thanks Great video>
Jim, I'm using the same recommendation that Shock therapy uses (for simplicity and to use their setting), bottom of the upper casting to the bottom of the lowest crossover ring. Check their website for the install instructions for the photo if this isnt clear enough. Thanks for the positive feedback, good luck!
Quick question. How far down do you have your top shock collars front and rear? After initial install and first measurements I was 16 in the front and only 11 1/2 in the rear. Stock tires. Mine measure at front 1 7/8 from the top of shock to the shock collar. Back is a little over 3 1/2 inches. This is after I got the ride height set. Just curious. I have a 19 XPT 4 and I'll be passing this on ST so they know.
@Densons7 thanks.
@Chupacabra Offroad Nick, more than right, dead on. I knew what I wanted to do, your video helped in that decision and to go with ST. I'm still working your mirrors to get them perfect, but a good product in my opinion.
@Densons7 10-4, so was I right, good use of $800?
@Chupacabra Offroad I get that. And don't get me wrong, very happy with my setup, night and day difference. Still don't understand why Polaris just doesn't do this from the factory. Thanks for the info.
@Densons7 I only focused on ride height, measuring the skid plate to the ground, front and back. This is most important, and what matters. One of the reasons these springs work much better, is because ST uses longer springs (which take up more room than the stocks did) to maximize the performance. If you are stock tires and 14 and 13.5", I would bump up each .5-.75" for ride height (so 14.5-14.75" front and 14-14,25" rear) and see if you like it better, but you are close and in the ballpark. The rear shock is significantly longer so you will have a lot more room, its just how it is. Once you are happy with ride height you can start playing with the crossover ring height.
When's the next time you planning on hitting geiser loop? I just got a plus 3 kit from super atv on and some 31 inch ko2s on a xp4 1000. I need to do some tuning and also I'm getting a gibson dual exhaust Tuesday and would really like to do a proper sound video.i want to run hard on the factory one then swap to the gibson in the desert and run the exact same to try and put out a longer review than I've seen. Let me know your schedule thanks.
@Chupacabra Offroad it will be hard for me to do the performance side by side due to the dalton kit and 31s. I'm thinking maybe more sound at this point. Just to give people something to help make decisions with. However I can put factory wheels and tires on and tune the clutch as close to stock as possible. One thing I've noticed is I'm getting backfires now. I want to say I feel a bit of difference but I think its strictly sound making me think its zoom zooming.
@Randy Simonson You goal is to compare the Gibson exhaust versus stock? When I worked for Polaris I was told that aftermarket didn't produce much extra power at all, it was mainly sound. Is that what you are trying to compare?
@Chupacabra Offroad I went out Sunday to do a quick test on the gibson. It's not the finally review I would like. But here's the link. Let me know your opinion. Here in the next week or 2 my buddy with the same rzr will be meeting to do a side by side comparison. algone.info/slow/video/jYPRqKh6hWWLjqM
@Chupacabra Offroad We just made the run Sunday, stayed on the pipeline road up to table mesa then cut over to the trails by I17 to rock springs. Once we got back to the parking spot i made one lap on the loop. I feel the Dalton kit is dialed in but my suspension needs some love. I feel the weight of those 31s on the front. I went a bit hard on the pipeline road and destroyed the front sway bar. We may do crown king Saturday but if not you want to link up and make an exhaust review video?
Possibly in the next month. Have you tried your new setup out there?
Are those eibach springs that ST uses?
Jeff Fisher not 100% sure, they say it’s their own brand but I think most are made by 2-3 factories. The springs have a lifetime warranty from Shock Therapy.
Had ST springs on my XP 900, and they are fantastic! Picking up an Eibach stage 2 kit tomorrow morning. Can't wait to get them on and go for a bonz!
Nice! money well spent.
Hey, kind of off topic, but did you do any clutch work to run those 32's? If not, how's it working out? I'm considering 32's and would like to know if I need to do clutch work
@Chupacabra Offroad Thanks for the reply, that's great to know! Makes me much more comfortable going with 32s when I upgrade. Thanks, again!
I left the clutching stock, and it still worked great. I know I left some performance on the table, but still ran 30" Skat paddles for the dunes, and BTW had NO broken belts in 1,400 miles and virtually no slippage. Just blew out the belt dust and scotch brighted the clutch sheaves every 500 miles.
Nice video! What was your opinion on the fox IBP's I have a 17 turbo shock therapy kit make a big difference on the foxs?
Yes, our new race RZR has the full shock therapy spring and valving, the small bump compliance is amazing. Also, their ride height was really close right out of the box, so far I'm really impressed. I'll have some videos of it soon, it has long travel and is a race car, but trust me the full spring and valving is worth the money.
What camera mount did you use in the car? Look awesome
Yeah some of that footage is so smooth it looks like you used a gimbal! Nice review.
Thanks. RAM mounts, I love them, interchangeable and if you mount a few you can switch it up.
Great video. Can you tell me what your front spring rates are?
pat cayton no. Shock Therapy keeps them hush hush and I haven’t purchased the tool to measure them. One thing I like about Shock Therapy is that they ask what accessories , your weight, etc.
Just picked up a 2015 1000 xp 4 with 2500 miles and 32" tires. Suspension feels too soft. My upper springs are not completely compressed yet but are close. Love the detailed video here with great info, thanks! Should I pick up new springs or with the miles I have on the machine, should I look to get the revalve too? Don't want to spend the money if I don't need to. Thanks! Awesome video!
Sounds like you are good with ride height. We are located in Peoria near Geiser Loop, not the most fun riding, but harsh and a good place to see how your setup works, if you are interested in that.
@Chupacabra Offroad we'll be there on the 30th through the 5th. I want a very plush ride so I might raise both an inch. Maybe too much? And it's close to 16" just over a quarter I think. Rear is 15 3/4"
Owen, do a few good rides at that settings, and then adjust. Raise the ring if you don't feel like you are not getting close to bottoming it out. It really gets to be personal preference as it will sway a little more, which I'm willing to deal with for plushness. Lots of good places to ride in AZ, the ride to Crown King is popular, and if you are talking late Spring/ SUmmer then you should head up north to Mormon Lake or Happy Jack to escape the heat.
In my experience the ST springs didn't settle too much. After it's been on a few rides I think you will have your true reading, and if it feels high drop it down a little, and see what you think. I'm low on my new car, and now going higher... Always learn something with each adjustment. I assume your front is around 16" ?
And ride hight also. I'm running 32" mongrals. I'm just a bit high because I assume the springs will settle?
If your contemplating buying them JUST DO IT ,its beyond worth it just did the upgrade on my 2 seat XPT but make sure you upgrade your radius rods mine bent 1st time out because you push it so much harder
Only have had my Xmr out in the hills of Tucson a couple of times as am deployed. Have family matters that require priority right now but S. Therapy is the 1st on the list. Sept saw a vid they did with a new setup where can be adjusted in-car...to be continued! Running 15"x32" on spacers, taking it easy until suspension upgrades. Great vid as always, keep em' coming. Love the trail heads you hit. Dually coming out of the paint shop next week for Rapter exterior job, will look sick. Towing with a set up JKU can take a toll...
Cuco Lopez and the radius rods bend easier when you running heavier 32” tires ...
Hey, great video! Just curious, did you need to have any clutch work done to run 32s, or no? Awesome looking ride, by the way ; )
Thanks Jason. I have left the clutching 100% stock, no belt issues after 1,300 miles, but I run very light 30" Skat Trak paddles in the dunes, which is the only place I've ever broken a belt. I'm probably leaving a little performance on the table, but the power on hard pack is more than enough for me and I've never had an issue. Most of my buddies that have clutch work done seem to have more belt slippage and issues than me.
Anything I try to find for information I always find it for dunes. Do anyone ride in the mountains?
Post comment watch later.
Daniel Frank not sure what you are talking about, this video demonstrates we had it in Moab, Peoria, and other environments. It’s challenging to get a setup that works for both. Did you not watch the entire video?
Can you please stop smacking your lips so much LOL it gets really annoying quick 😖
JAVIER ZAMORA whatever you need Javier....
Cool video! I got this kit in my 2015 XP1K with 32" Carnivores and it completely changed it.... The high speed whoops and dips are a cakewalk now.... Just picked up a 2018 Trails & Rocks and will be throwing this kit in that right away as well.... (After i have the springs powder coated gold) Thanks for the video!
74Beeper thank you and congrats, definitely money well spent.
This was a great video. I need to get this spring kit for my car.
Shock Therapy is my next big upgrade to my RZR.
Thank you, trust us it's money well spent, on any SxS. Our Can Am X3 just got upgraded, such a big difference as well!
Great video.. I too live on the west side of PHX and just picked up a XP 900 with an after market turbo. I also make videos so if you ever need help filming let me know, I have a ton of camera equipment. This channel isn't my video channel FYI.
Thanks, I'll reach out if I need help.
Great video! Did you have your sway bars disconnected?
No, I've kept the stock sway bars connected the entire time. I wish I would have disconnected when I was in Moab, it was really my first time on many of those trails and didn't know what to expect.
Wow everything went through me! After watching this same video about 4 times I’m somewhat understanding a little bit more. So at what setting do you recommend me going? I have a 2018 xk4 turbo, I ride a lot in Barstow which looks very similar to that terrain. I have to say I like to go somewhat fast. I don’t shy out on any whoops and drive it hard. I have noticed It feels a little hard though, 99% of the time I ride is with one passenger only. I have the walker Evans. Any tips pls , thanks and yes talk to me as if I don’t know anything , in details pls I’m really trying understand all of this and how it works
