GPS WAS USED TO GET SPEEDS- So you are wondering what kind of changes to power adding 32" tires will make to your Honda Talon. Well, so was I. After making the decision to put 32" Tusk Terrabites on my Honda Talon X4 Live Valve, I decided to put together a video comparing the 2. Hopefully, this will answer your questions. So should you put 32's on your Talon? Watch the video to find out.

Speed was tested using cell phone GPS. Purchased a dragy and will update the results in a future video. -Joe
What psi do you run in 32s
Thanks for the reply back, putting 32s of BFG km3 on the wifes 1000r fox live valve. Just wondering what psi you run. Im old school and still run the ATV. I'm usually 2 miles behind her. Lol
10-12. -Joe
Great honest, detailed video!
I just picked up a Talon X4 LV and immediately put 32’s on it. I’m still breaking it all in, but haven’t worked up the nerve to try launch mode with the heavier 32’s. Have you had any issues using launch on a heavier tire?
I’ve used it a few times with the 32’s. I don’t use launch mode often though. -Joe
great vid
It’s ok Dave does way better vids. 👍 -Dave 😀
I want to know are they good side by side?
Yes, overall the Talon is a great machine!
Dang that sucks and 32s look sooooo good on your honda
Thanks for sharing and doing the video, Joe. Helped me make my decision. For me, clearance is way more important than 0-60 time on my Talon. I have other machinery for 0-60 thrills. Glad the 32's work well.
Can you still feel the live valve working with the larger tires?
To do the test the right way you need a radar gun. The 32 inch tires is probably tell the talon it's going 60. But it most likely actually speed is 63 or 65. Which means it will take longer to get up to speed. Showing it takes longer to get up to speed. Not sure if you use a radar gun. Just my thoughts.
Officer Bob was busy with the ole radar gun so we used gps instead
I wonder how that effects the tiny tailing arms it has too.
With the bigger tires, has the temperature on the clutches gone up? That is my only concern. Thanks
Hey Joe, I just when to big o to put 30x10x15 tires on mine but they are saying they won't fit on the front with stock rims
Hey man, how many inches of ground clearance do you have now with the 32s?
Ya i got there and they figured it out. I went with Tusk Terrabite 8 ply. They look pretty awesome on the rims, can wait to get them on my Talon. Thanks for the video's they really helped me decide on tire and size
My 32’s are 10x15’s... guys are Big-O are trying to sell you something else... unless you went with truck tires and they have a much different bead.
If you were using the speedo to figure out your 0-60 times and it wasn't recalibrated your test is flawed and the car lost less acceleration than your numbers indicate.
Read the comments...
So you did not add a programmer...so 0 - 60 on spedo with 32is more like 0-65...fyi... if you want to get accurate results get a gps.
GPS was used as mentioned in the comments and video description.
I guess it really depends what you want them for. If you're looking to crawl or do some mud, the clearance from the 32's is nice. If you're purely after speed staying close to stock is better.
Did you use the factory rim offset for the 32" tires? It looks like I may have to run a different offset to get enough clearance. Thanks great video!
Thanks! Yeah, factory wheels, no spacers.
you have to flash the transmission's ecu... turbo kit offers the mod/tune file.. it changes the shift timing.
How off is the speedometer now?
Roughly 11%. At 45 mph in the speedo, I’m doing 50mph. At 60mph, on the speedo I’m doing 67ish mph. -Joe
Ya I’m not spending $30k on a 15 second 0-60 bike. Get your shit together Honda and offer a turbo that doesn’t make my already $30k bike a freakin $36k bike.
What size trailer u using to haul it with those 32s on?
Time for a turbo I put 51 inches on mine.
I’m thinking 30’s max. That’s way too much torque loss. Really afraid what I’d lose in the steep terrain where I live (NW Montana). Gotta be able to climb steep. Then again, you could just pop in the Jackson Racing Turbo and be right where you want to be.
Or use low range
Gotta do the turbo if you're gonna go up in tires. Unless you're into rock crawling the machine is going to work harder to push those tires. Looks great but there is a sacrifice.
Did you calibrate the speedo for the larger tires? Larger tires your 0 to 60 could be 0 to 70. I don't know exactly I do know there is a difference.
He didn't need to because he used a cell phone GPS for the speed.
Speedo is way off on 32” 60 is likely 68mph
Read previous comments.
Why will they not sell the 4 seater in Canada?!?! I want one!
What did the overall height measure with the 32” tires on?
Did you change the Speedometer after you put the bigger tires on I think it would change the Speedometer
GPS was used
28 to 32 inch tire is throwing off speedometer. A 4inch difference is about a 7.5 to 10.1 mph difference. Is the test being done with radar gun or speedo on vehicle. Some more specifics???? Thanks
Speed was GPS on Phone. Definitely not super accurate but better than reading the speedo. New vid coming soon. Thanks for watching -Joe
There's a formula that should have accurately projected a "zero to sixty" time when you changed the gear ratio (which is effectively what you did when changing tire diameter), but I really don't think that is a meaningful performance figure for most. The bigger tires do so much for the vehicle in other ways that they are almost always a desirable mod. I have always wondered why most manufacturers don't offer larger DOT tires/wheels as a factory option.
did you adjust your speedometer for this test? Maybe you didn't know when you really hit 60. I had a toyota PU I put 31's on and i was going a lot faster when my spedo said 60, so i would have already been doing 60 way before my spedo said
@Deranged Off-Road fair enough
GPS was used
I see already mentioned a few times, bigger tires throw your speedometer off. Every tire revolution you went further on the larger tires so you were going more than 60 mph so it didn't take as long as you thought. to get to 60.
It's also been said many times that all speeds were measured using gps.
I heard you need to get the motor re programed for the bigger tires.have you ask the dealer about that.
Hey Joe. Another question. The fronts are 9" wide and the rears are 11" wide. So you can still put 32/10/15's on both of them? Also are the front and rear wheels (rims) the same width, or are they the same width as the tires? Sorry for so many questions about this but I want to make sure the terrabites will fit. Thanks.
Wheels are all the same size and yeah, they are 10" wide all 4 corners. Very slight rub at full turn when you hit a big bump. -Joe
Great vid... hey i have a Ford truck country song and one i just released you can use for music in your vids for free. Just put in my Soundcloud link in your description and yer good to go... soundcloud.com/user-459499435/jacked-it-up soundcloud.com/user-459499435/how-we-friday-night
Who taught you how to measure
Hey Joe, Are these tires 32/10/15 all around. I would like to put these tires on mine as well. Are there any issues with rubbing/scrubbing on the front tires? I just picked up my Talon 1000x-4 and have put on a windshield and mirrors. I purchased OEM front and rear bumpers which I am having painted to match the orange of the Talon. I also have a rear tinted window to install.
Had a little bit of rub on my ride today. At full crank and hitting a bump. -Joe
Congrats on the new rig! Yup, all 4 corners.
I think you missed an important consideration with your test. Did you use a hug gun or gps for speed or your speedo? If you relied on your speedometer for the 60 mph, then with the 32's you were actually going faster than 60. This would lead to the much slower times.
Gps was used.
New Tire Diameter: 32 OEM Tire Diameter: 28 Speedometer (MPH): 60 Actual Speed: 68.57142857142857 MPH Speed Offset: 114.28571428571428 %
All speeds in this video were done by gps
Are you in sport mode whilst performing these 0-60mph tests sir?
No, standard auto in both. Definitely makes a difference to have it in sport.
Turbo will fix that! LOL
Just like a truck you need to regear it and do some clutch work for the bigger tires
Gerrym91 easier said than done on these having the DCT transmission.
Great video, 32's definitely makes a huge difference. i was told the computer after a few miles re learns how to shift with the bigger tires. i have the same ones on my machine and so does my brother. nice choice, perfect tire for here in AZ.
Thanks! Love it so far! Didn't notice anything on my last ride. - Joe
Nice video. I did enjoy it. Only thing is you didn’t have your speedometer recalibrated for the bigger tires so times are not accurate
6-7 mph at 60 -Joe
Deranged Off-Road copy. With that being said. How far off is your speedometer with the 32”.
Times and speeds were done on gps
Did you use a gps speed source? If you went with the stock speedo, the larger tires may have given you a false reading. I just picked up the Talon 4 live valve, and I put some beadlocks and 28" Mongrels. I don't really care about top speed, but moreover am interested in crawling, so far SUPER impressed!! Good review!!!
The test I did was with GPS speeds. Full disclosure though, it was on a phone and they can be off by a few MPH as well. I'd like to get some beadlocks as well...They're on the ever-growing list.. -Joe
Your mom goes 0-60 in 9.3. Great informative video. Lets race
😂 indeed brother! Indeed!
Good video did u have to use any spacers with those 32's
@Deranged Off-Road need,,,, no,,,, but using spacers in the rear will put all wheels in same track. When I get in deep stuff my rear moves around in the ruts compared to the front. I am putting 6/1 all around with 1 1/2 inch spacers in rear with 32/10/15.
@Ben Corrales 30×10×15
@Ben Corrales yes
So are all 4 tires the same size?
@Deranged Off-Road I appreciate the quick response I haven't even picked it up yet 2week wait
If you're going to re-test your 0-60 times, you should probably use a Draggy or at the very least a GPS for the speed. 4" different in tires is going to throw your speedo off by quite a bit. Yes, the apparent gearing is going to be different, but so is the speedo.
Joshua Vondenhuevel gps was used. Not the speedo.
@Deranged Off-Road Yes, If speedometer was reading 60 in both, 32s would have actually been around 68 mph. It would make a big difference in numbers so it is misleading.
GPS was used in this video
Already planning the follow up... -Joe
did you notice if your transmission shift points were at the same rpm between both tires?
Lower gears seemed normal, 3rd seemed like it came about the same and 4-6 felt/sounded like the revs dropped too low after the shift. To be honest, I set up a camera to monitor the speed at each shift point but for whatever reason, the footage disappeared... Either way, I’m sure it would’ve made a difference to have the transmission in sport mode rather than standard automatic. Hope that helps. -Joe
First, great job comparing the differences in tire size. Second, Wow the Honda is slow as molasses. They need to offer a factory turbo with live valve shocks...I might consider one then...until then my x3 turbo does me good
Thanks for watching. We’ll definitely be doing some follow up videos with better speed monitoring and different tires sizes. Factory turbo would be SLICK but I don’t see it happening soon. 3-5 years maybe... -Joe
As long as it works for you that’s the main thing. I feel like a big population of the UTV community just likes to stand around the drag strip and race their buddies. So of course to them 0-60 is everything. Looks really good with the bigger tires. You can always add the turbo later.
True that! The talons with turbo’s installed rip! I’d love to see a four seat R model with a turbo! -Joe
Very good information for the Talon owners. My Son-in-law has one, so he will be interested, as he does not like the stock tires. Thanks for putting this information out there!
I also run 32 inch terrabites on my Talon R and I think they are a Great tire overall, Very Durable. I do wonder if the lack of traction the Terrabite get compared to the stock tire could have played a role? Great vid, Very informative.
Thank you! It Definitely could have. I'm sure the weight played a major role as well. -Joe
Do the front tires scrub at all when you turn?
